White Waltham Airfield is situated in a very built up area. Although the airfield has been here for nearly 80 years, it is now nearly totally surrounded by a myriad of roads, railways and houses. At West London Aero Club we take the issue of aircraft noise very seriously and have drawn up strict circuit and aerobatic procedures. All pilots, whether members of WLAC or visiting, must read, understand and comply with these. Please do not hesitate to call and speak to one of the instructors if there is anything you are not completely clear about. Be considerate especially if you have a constant speed propeller. Think noise abatement!

DEPARTURES:  Obviously the noise abatement areas remain in force when leaving the circuit. Propellers in fine pitch are particularly noisy so do not over-fly any of these areas when departing from White Waltham.  Follow the circuit pattern until the required departure leg is reached.

Runway 29 – At the end of the runway bear right onto 300 degrees magnetic – keep on this track until past the noise abatement areas.  Please do not fly over Knowl Hill or Littlewick Green.

Runway 11 – If departing to the North or West please follow the circuit pattern until the appropriate leg is reached or exit to the South on the base leg obviously keeping away from any noise abatement areas.

Runway 21 – Stay on 210 track until past the noise abatement areas – Do not over-fly the Church, White Waltham or Waltham St Lawrence.

Runway 03 – At the end of the runway when safe, turn on to 010 degrees magnetic – leave the circuit on the required leg making sure you do not fly over any of the noise abatement areas to the north of the airfield  – namely; Knowl Hill, Littlewick Green, Burchetts Green and Stubbings House.  When flying the downwind leg, aim for the lakes on the southern edge of the golf course.

Runway 07 – Overhead the perimeter track when safe, turn onto 090 degrees magnetic.  Continue until east of Woodlands Park. If departing to the West or North, keep to the circuit pattern, do not over fly the Church, White Waltham or Waltham St Lawrence.

Runway 25 – Use the railway line to depart from the ATZ. Make any turns after passing abeam Knowl Hill and Waltham St Lawrence.

ARRIVALS: via the published reporting points should be through the overhead at 1200ft QFE followed by a descent on the deadside to cross the upwind end of the runway at 800t QFE to join the circuit pattern on the downwind leg.  PLEASE KEEP AWAY FROM THE NOISE ABATEMENT AREAS.

FROM NOVEMBER – AVOID KNOWL HILL AND LITTLEWICK GREEN

FROM WHISKEY – USE THE RAILWAY LINE AS A GUIDE

FROM SIERRA – APPROACH THE FIELD JUST NORTH OF THE M4.  DO NOT OVERFLY THE CHURCH, WHITE WALTHAM AND WALTHAM ST LAWRENCE.

We have made a formal commitment to local residents that we will try and ensure that all WLAC pilots follow these circuits and procedures.  To assist with this we are delighted to offer the services of one of our instructors completely FREE of charge to any member who would like some clarification and training in this area.  As such there should be no reason why these procedures should not be adhered to.
